- Find out who has or is about to get an electric car or otherwise is willing to support EV Charging in your strata.
- Form an EV Club and/or Committee and share the work.
- Consider creating a survey to gauge support and make choices.
- How may EV Chargers do you need?
- Will you have a few chargers in shared parking spaces or will you provide wiring to support chargers in every parking place?
- Should you get all the chargers you may need now, or phase chargers in over time?
- What are you financial and administrative goals?
Do you want to minimize cost for EV users or minimize administration for the strata?
Do you want to collect Carbon Credits? - Plan to get an EV Ready Plan (ERP) and/or an Electric Planning Report (EPR). Consider hiring an Electrical Engineer familiar with EV Ready Plans and Electric Planning Reports in BC.
- Use the EV ready plan and knowledge of your strata to produce an outline of what you need and invite Electrical companies to quote.
- Learn and Apply for as much funding support as you can. - BC Hydro, Government of Canada, Municipalities, ...
Some entities like Green Economy Canada (GEC) may periodically provide EV Charger funding. - Vancouver Electric Vehicles (VEVA) has information on Carbon Credits
- Put it all together to win your strata over to your plans.
